FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technology of processing optical components and can be used for finish magnetorheological processing of precision surfaces of optical components. Processed part is rotated about its axis, magnetorheological liquid is fed into processing zone alternately under pressure and removed. Processing is performed by a small tool, which is in form of a clot of magnetorheological liquid contained in processing zone and converted into a viscoplastic state under action of magnetic field thereon. Processing includes alternation of periods of applying magnetic field on magnetorheological liquid and periods of its removal. Surface of processed part is exposed to end surface of tool in form of a clot magnetorheological liquid enclosed in limited volume of internal cavity of tool to form an areal contact spot with surface of processed part.
EFFECT: as a result, technological capabilities are expanded and efficiency is raised.
