FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to high-quality silica microsphere technology to be applicable in various fields requiring fine filling agents. Producing the microspheres involves using high-purity raw materials produced from Kyshtym Mining quartz with the material additionally cleaned in plasma by means of a high-power (100 kW or more) plasma gun and having an ability of re-spheroidisation. That is combined with preparing a side product in the form of aerosil SiO2 protecting the microspheres against contamination with chamber wall products. A first version of the product involves induction plasma processing of the raw material, which is doped with whitening agents, e.g. sodium silicate. After plasma processing and cooling-down, all the products are collected at a plasma gun output, sorted by types and fractions. A second version of the method involves using aerosil as a furnace charge, produced in the induction plasma gun while processing high-purity quartz raw materials and the microspheres in the form of nano-braided coils are produced.
