FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of hollow microspheres. Method for producing hollow microspheres of metal oxides includes preliminary preparation of the initial metal oxide powder and size-based classification of the resultant powder, sequential loading of one of isolated powder fractions into a dispenser, melting and spheroidization in the flow of a low-temperature plasmatron plasma torch, cooling of the formed product and its size classification with the determination of bulk weight of the finished microspheres. During spheroidization of the metal oxide powder, the plasmatron torch length is maintained in the range 600–1,200 mm, at a feed rate of the feed fraction in the range of 5–18 kg/h, plasma-forming nitrogen gas of 0.45–0.85 g/s and a supply power of 45–80 kW.
EFFECT: producing hollow ceramic microspheres of metal oxides of optimal quality.
