FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: ocular prosthesis consists of an opaque base simulating a sclera of a visible eye, and a transparent coating simulating a cornea and provided with a base coupling surface. According to the method for making the ocular prosthesis, the base is moulded under pressure of light-coloured matte polymethylmethacrylate. The coating is moulded by the same procedure of transparent polymethylmethacrylate. Flat segments for an iris image are formed on a front portion of the base and a mating portion of the coating. A digital photocamera is used to image the iris with a pupil, the sclera and the blood vessels of an intact eye. The above image is applied directly on the base by tampon printing or digital printing, e.g. UV-curable ink piezo-jet printing. The coating is fastened on the base by means of transparent glue.
EFFECT: invention enables to simplify the process of the realistic ocular prosthesis.
