FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method for making a plastic ocular prosthesis consists in the fact that a hollow one-layer lenticular sclera is made, and an imitation of the iris and pupil is formed. Cast corresponding to the shape of the conjunctival cavity of the lost eye is taken. Cast is used to make sclera to form a closed internal cavity, wherein separate front and back parts of sclera with internal curvilinear surfaces are made of transparent organic glass. Flat area of the diameter equal to that of the iris is formed on an internal curvilinear surface of the facial portion of the sclera. Image of the pupil and the iris is applied to the flat surface of the formed area, and an image of the blood vessels is applied to the inner curved surface of the front part of the sclera and the inner surfaces of the front and back parts are stained in the colour of the sclera of the paired eye of the patient. Sclera parts are joined together to form a closed cavity and hermetically glued together at the joint point.

EFFECT: lower labour input, improved manufacturability and elimination of the harmful substances used in making the prosthesis on the patient’s body.
