FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of producing aluminium oxide-based optical nanoceramic includes preparing a colloidal solution from finely dispersed powdered γ-Al2O3 via dispersion thereof using ultrasound, acidification with citric acid and using formamide as a thickener, including additional treatment with ultrasound. The prepared sol is placed in a container and held until formation of a semi-product - a gel workpiece which is heat-treated. The obtained semi-product - gel workpiece - is crushed, re-gelled at different pH values, followed by heat treatment until formation of xerogel, which is further heat-treated and sintered at 1800-1900°C.
EFFECT: high optical transparency in the UV and infrared spectrum, and mechanical strength.
