SUBSTANCE: thermal-barrier coating deposited on a substrate contains metal nanoparticles coated with a glass composition, forming an ordered structure and fused into a glass matrix to be held therein. The nanoparticles are located at distances from each other equal to a wave length of phonons transmitting heat energy through the above coating. A method thermal-barrier coating deposition on the substrate involves depositing the glass composition on the metal nanoparticles located at distances from each other equal to a wave length of phonons transmitting heat energy through the above coating, and fusing the above glass composition deposited on the metal nanoparticles into a glass matrix for holding the above nanoparticles therein.

EFFECT: thermal-barrier coating controlling a heat flow through the material by means of a phonon interference mechanism, which is reliable and durable, and may be deposited on relatively large surfaces.
