FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: barrier ring has (i) an inner ring (2) implantable on an abdominal wall, on its outer circumference, an opening (3) configured to facilitate the passage of an abdominal organ through the ring on an outer side (5), and (ii) a cuff seal (4) extending along an inner side (5) of the inner ring (2) to seal a stoma opening, which is applicable in abdominal surgery. In addition, the present invention refers to a method of treating involving the insertion of the barrier ring (1) according to the invention, into a mammalian's abdominal wall with the need for abdominal surgery, preferentially osteotomy.
EFFECT: using the invention allows reducing a risk of parastomal hernia.
