FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves performing an ultrasonic biomicroscopy to measure a scleral thickness, mm and a scleral acoustic density, decibels (dB) in limbal and equatorial areas in segments of 12, 3, 6, 9 o'clock in relation to a scleral spur. An eye length, mm is measured by A-method. If the eye length makes 22.8-24.1 mm; the scleral thickness is 0.47-0.54 mm in the limbal area, 0.27-0.28 mm in the equatorial area; the scleral acoustic density is 56-60 dB, a first stage of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) is stated. If the eye length makes 22.8-24.1 mm; the scleral thickness is 0.45-0.46 mm in the limbal area, 0.24-0.26 mm in the equatorial area; the scleral acoustic density is 61-62 dB, a second stage of POAG is stated. If the eye length makes 22.8-24.1 mm; the scleral thickness is 0.41-0.44 mm in the limbal area, 0.21-0.23 mm in the equatorial area; the scleral acoustic density is 63-69 dB, a third stage of POAG is stated.
EFFECT: method enables the accurate, reliable and objective staging of POAG by performing the ultrasonic biomicroscopic measurements in segments of 12, 3, 6, 9 o'clock in relation to a scleral spur, and taking into account the most significant parameters.
