FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: pre-cleaning of the tool surface and further vacuum-arc deposition of a coating upon evaporation of cathodes containing titanium and tin in a reaction gas, i.e. nitrogen. The process is performed at an arc current evaporating the cathodes of 100-120 A and negative bias voltage supplied to the carbide cutting tool equal to 100-120 V. Each evaporated cathode is made combined with a regulated ratio of areas of the evaporated titanium base and copper insert equal to 3.2-2.6, ensuring copper content in the coating of 3.5-7%.
EFFECT: increased strength of the carbide cutting tool and extension of its application scope both for continuous, and intermittent cutting.
