FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: layer of complex titanium-aluminium nitride and layer of chromium nitride are applied on revolving substrate being coated relative to sprayed cathodes. Additional barrier layer of complex zirconium-niobium nitride is arranged between complex titanium-aluminium nitride and layer of chromium nitride. Said coating is applied by three spray cathodes arranged horizontally in one plane and connected to drop phase separator on rotation of substrate relative to said cathodes at 1-2 rpm. Said cathodes represent titanium-aluminium cathode of BT5 alloy, zirconium-niobium combined cathode with Zr:Nb ratio of 3:1 and chromium cathode.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of cutting tool, expanded cutting performances.
