FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: brake pad is made from friction iron containing carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulphur, barium, calcium, iron and impurities by thermal treatment. This process comprises the heating in the furnace to 950-1000°C, holding for 2 hours and cooling jointly with the furnace to the room temperature to get the ferrite-graphite microstructure.
EFFECT: longer life and wear resistance of the wheel-pad friction pair.
