FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medical equipment. A device comprises a body which has a projecting, retruding, detachably retained and selectively retracting needle. The body is configured to enclose a fluid collection tube in a selectively detachable fluid connection to a back end of the retracting needle. An elongated starter comprises a retracting cavity, a back portion pivotally connected to the body, an open front portion providing an access to the retracting cavity and a cavity being in contact with a cam and selectively geared with a cam ring rotatably built into the body. The cam ring is configured to rotate by a rotary motion of the starter in relation to the body after release the fluid collection tube from the body, and thereby releasing the retained, retruding needle to be retracted into the retracting cavity.
EFFECT: invention ensures safety of both a patient, and a clinician sampling blood or other body fluid.
