SUBSTANCE: access unit is configured to control access to a vehicle through communication with an additional access unit. The access unit comprises a transmitter for transmitting a polling signal and a receiver for receiving an authentication signal from an additional access unit in response to said polling signal. The transmitter is a first ultra-wideband transmitter and the receiver is a first ultra-wideband receiver. The transmitter is configured to transmit, in pulse mode, a polling signal with a time interval between transmissions. The transmitter is configured to increase the time interval between transmissions of the polling signal in response to increase in the distance between the access unit and the additional access unit and/or reduce the time interval between transmissions of the polling signal in response to reduction of the distance between the access unit and the additional access unit.
EFFECT: enabling fast confirmation of identity of a keychain and unlocking a vehicle.
