SUBSTANCE: image pickup comprises multiple imaging pixels. The latter receive the light beams penetrating through optical imaging system pupil area. Multiple first focus detection pixels receive the light beams penetrating through the pupil first area smaller than the imaging pupil area. Multiple second focus detection pixels receive the light beams penetrating through the pupil second area smaller than the imaging pupil area. Pupil first area geometrical centre differs from that of the second area. Offset of micro lens first pixel for detection of focusing relative to the pixel centre differs from the offset of the first pixel for detection of focusing relative to the pixel centre of micro lens adjacent to the first pixel of focusing detection.
EFFECT: expanded range of image height wherein focus can be detected at the image plane with the help of phase-different process with the pupil splitting.
