SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an image capturing device and a method of controlling an image capturing device, and particularly relates to automatic focus detection techniques. Disclosed group of inventions includes an optical imaging system configured to be connected to and detached from an image forming apparatus, a focusing adjustment device and a focusing adjustment method for a focusing adjustment device having an image sensor. Optical imaging system comprises: a memory configured to store information on aberrations of the optical imaging system, wherein said information is to be used for automatic adjustment of focus, and transmission to image forming device in accordance with request from image forming device, wherein said information corresponds to each zoom position and each focal position of the optical imaging system, and relates to an image forming position of an optical imaging system for each spatial frequency.
EFFECT: technical result is the exact correction of the error when a focus is detected.
