FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a surface mount box (100) used with a fibre-optic cable (200), which ends at one end with a socket (202) at the subscriber side and at the other end with a socket (204) at the communication link side, wherein the surface mount box (100) includes: a base (110); a coil element (130) which can be mounted on the base (110) while allowing rotation relative to the base; and a cover (150) which can be attached to the base while enclosing the coil element (130); wherein the coil element (130) includes a drum portion (131) with a circular side wall (132) for winding the cable (200), wherein the drum portion (131) includes a channel (135) for laying the cable, which passes around the inner surface of the side wall (132). The invention also relates to a coil element of a surface mount box, a set of components of a surface mount box, a base for a surface mount box and an extension coil (170) used with a surface mount box.

EFFECT: creating a surface mount box which provides high flexibility when laying a cable, when the length of the cable to be connected to a hub and location of the access point is unknown.
