FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: described is a catalyst which includes cobalt and molybdenum in the form of oxides; silicon in the form of amorphous aluminosilicate, aluminium in the form of an oxide and amorphous aluminosilicate, wherein components are in the following concentrations, wt %: MoO3 - 3.0-12.0; CoO - 0.8-4.6; amorphous aluminosilicate - 46.6-84.0%, Al2O3 - the balance. The catalyst has specific surface area of 150-350 m2/g, pore volume of 0.3-0.9 cm3/g, average pore diameter of 5-15 nm, is in the form of particles with a tri-lobe shape with diameter of 1.3-1.7 mm and length of up to 20 mm, having bulk mechanical strength, determined by the Shell 1471 method, of not less than 1.0 MPa.
EFFECT: high hydrodesulphurisation activity of the catalyst, high selectivity of the catalyst, which is expressed by a low degree of hydrogenation of olefin hydrocarbons and reduced decrease of the octane number of catalytically cracked gasoline when performing hydrofining.
