SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to textile industry and can be used in textile enterprises to determine indices of thickness and content of impurities of textile yarns. The method of determining the indices of thickness and content of impurities of textile yarns comprises directing the textile yarn to the focus area of digital video camera lens, obtaining a digital image of a moving yarn, formation of static frames, and their analysis. At that the digital image is obtained on the background having the effect of an absolutely black body. The analysis includes determining the values of the average intensities on the columns of pixels, determining the values of the average intensities on lines of pixels, revealing the coordinates of the line with a maximum value of average intensity, construction of diagram of changes of instant diameters and a diagram of change of smooth diameters, and analysis of the diagrams constructed for the presence of signs characterizing the defects of the yarn. Also a device for determining the indices of thickness and content of impurities of textile yarns is disclosed.

EFFECT: method and device for determining the indices of thickness and content of impurities of textile yarns enable to improve the accuracy and objectivity of evaluation of the textile yarn properties.
