SUBSTANCE: invention relates to systems using reflection or secondary radiation of electromagnetic waves other than radio waves, and can be used to locate a surveillance object in automated vehicle systems for preventing a collision. A method for the high-speed detection of objects on a high-contrast dynamically variable background comprises detecting the difference between output reference signals and compared signals from two identical video systems based on multi-element high-speed photodetectors in the form of photodiode lines with parallel axes of cylindrical lenses, mounted relative to each other at a substantially shorter distance than the distance to the boundary of the monitoring area, and determining, based on the said difference, information on the entry of a foreign object into the monitoring area when boundaries of the said area are crossed.
