FIELD: location.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optical location, primarily passive, and can be used in onboard aviation location systems, including on unmanned aerial vehicles, for detecting air objects on a distant background. Method of selecting an object on a distant background with optical systems from an air carrier comprises receiving radiation using two identical optical systems with parallel main optical axes and forming two images, which are carried out in two spatially spaced points, simultaneous recording of formed images, formation of a difference image from two recorded images and analysis of a differential image. When forming images in the field of view of each optical system, at least one calibration marker is placed. Prior to forming the differential image, displacement of images of said markers is determined, based on which the recorded images are corrected for the current rotation and their corresponding offset caused by dynamic action on the air carrier. When analyzing a differential image for selecting an object in range, parallax displacement of two registered images is determined.
EFFECT: stabilization of images and preservation of operability of optical systems under conditions of dynamic effects on basis of their installation on air carrier.
