FIELD: optical system.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fibre optics, particularly to production of high-aperture single-mode fibre light guides with germanium silicate core. MCVD method of making workpieces comprises applying layers of core glass, high-temperature compression of support tube with deposited layers in several passes of burner, etching of inner channel with fluorine-containing gas at final pass of high-temperature compression and fusion of pipe in a rod-blank. At that, core has diameter from 3 to 5 mm, and layer of quartz glass is applied on workpiece with thickness providing single-mode radiation mode in the light guide.
EFFECT: technical result consists in reduced optical losses in light guides.
