FIELD: fiber-optic technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of manufacturing single-mode fiber optical fibers with an elliptical straining shell preserving the polarization of radiation. The claimed method for manufacturing anisotropic single-mode fiber-optic guides with an elliptical straining shell includes the production of MCVD by the method for a cylindrical workpiece containing a core, a low-viscosity straining shell and a structural shell made of quartz glass, cutting two grooves from diametrically opposite sides of the workpiece, high-temperature rounding of the workpiece and fiber stretching. Moreover, the roundness of the workpiece is provided by the process of pulling the fiber at a speed of 20-50 m/min and a temperature of 2200-2250°C.
EFFECT: increase in the productivity of the fiber-optic guide manufacturing process and an increase in output from one workpiece.
