SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication. Signalling messages and/or user plane frame headers are modified to include new indicators/parameters, which are used to signal that a given UE has non-uniform behaviour with respect to remembering a CPC activation status after a RRC Reconfiguration message, since it is a Release 7 or Release 8 mobile station. These new indicators/parameters may also be used by a node B to acknowledge the receipt of an indication from an RNC that non-uniform behaviour should be anticipated for the given UE.
EFFECT: eliminating mismatch between a serving node and UE with respect to continuous packet connectivity (CPC) activation status.
