SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a chemical reactor for heterogeneously catalysed conversion of a fluid and a method of carrying out chemical reactions using said reactor. The chemical reactor includes holding device for particles through which a fluid flows, the side of the holding device facing upstream relative to the direction of flow of the fluid, includes woven wire mesh material, wherein the average clearance in the cells of said woven wire is smaller than the average particle size.

EFFECT: invention provides efficient heterogeneous catalysis, insignificant costs on maintenance of the reactor and easy filling of the reactor with a bulk catalyst bed.
