FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: characteristics of polarised scattered by the atmosphere solar light are monitored in plane normal to vector oriented from the inspected region of space in the direction towards the Sun. Comparing characteristics of polarised light, recorded by monitoring equipment in two mutually orthogonal planes. Whereupon monitoring is carried out from guidance platform installed aboard the high-altitude aircraft or natural planet satellite. During monitoring for various time moments parameters of two vectors are synchronously calculated: vector directed from the inspected region in space, including above clouds, in the direction towards the Sun, and vector directed from monitoring equipment in the direction of monitored area. Monitoring equipment is oriented by vector, which is oriented in the direction towards controlled area. Characteristics of polarised sunlight scattered by the atmosphere are monitored in periods when the angle between synchronously calculated vectors is within the range from 45° to 135°.

EFFECT: higher efficiency, broader functional capabilities.
