SUBSTANCE: invention relates to battery chargers. A charger and a method of ultrafast charging of one or several batteries, including for example ion-lithium ones are suggested. Charging current is determined by model optimisation, based on functions of a set of the variable internal state of the battery, and a set of model parameters or non-parametric data characterising the battery The variables of the current internal state are determined, and to the battery the optimised charging current is applied, it depends on some limitations characteristic for the exact battery. Variables of the internal state of the battery are recursively updated based on its characteristics during charging, and characteristics of the same class batteries stored in the data base or received via the network.

EFFECT: increased service life of the battery.
