FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, specifically to otorhinolaryngology, and can be used to control middle ear maturation in preterm infants. Examination is carried out upon reaching age of one year by tympanometry. Tympanometry is performed at frequency of sounding tone of 1 kHz at a rate of change of pressure of 300-400 daPa/s. Based on obtained tympanograms having a peak static compliance dependence on changes in a positive or negative air pressure in ear canal, index of acoustic compliance (IAP) is calculated. Fact of middle ear maturation in children born at gestational age less than 28 weeks is diagnosed at a value of IAP equal to or greater than 1.23. For children born to gestational age 29-37 weeks - if IAP is equal to or greater than 1.44.

EFFECT: method provides higher objectivity of monitoring ageing of middle ear in premature infants, as well as early detection of risk of developing hearing loss due to use of tympanometry and determination of IAP.
