SUBSTANCE: method includes recording electromagnetic measurement data in an underground drilled well with at least one measurement group. The electromagnetic measurement data are processed to obtain least square coefficients. The least square coefficients are processed to obtain an azimuthal angle of incidence.
EFFECT: more accurate, less noisy estimate of the angle of incidence, eliminating phase wrapping.
