FIELD: test equipment.

SUBSTANCE: powder ballistic unit (PCU) comprises barrel to accommodate a thrown object (MO), a powder charge (PC), a charging chamber, connected to additional chamber through hole with diameter depending on equality of maximum pressure in charging and additional chambers during acceleration MO. Method includes initiating PC, beginning gas inlet into a charging chamber, MO is accelerated in barrel under action of combustion products of PC, performing overflow of combustion products of PC into additional chamber, pressure is balanced in charging chamber and additional chamber is carried out overflow of combustion products from additional chamber into charging chamber.

EFFECT: invention may be used in PCU.
