FIELD: radio engineering and communications.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for purposes of Zadoff-Chu sequence or GCL sequence. Method to assign a sequence and device to assign a sequence used in system, where multiple different Zadoff-Chu sequences or GCL sequences are assigned to one cell. According to said method and apparatus, at ST201, a counter (a) and number (p) of current sequence assignments are initialised and at ST202, it is determined whether number (p) of current sequence assignments matches number (K) of single cell assignments. At ST203 it is determined whether number (K) of single cell is odd or even. If K is even, at ST204-ST206, numbers of sequences (r=a and r=N-a), which are currently not assigned, are combined and then are assigned. If K is odd, at ST207-ST212 for sequences, for which cannot be selected a pair, is assigned one of numbers of sequences (r=a and r=N-a), which is currently not assigned.

EFFECT: reduced volume of calculations and degree of correlation circuit integration at receiving side.
