FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to degaussing of ships, particularly ships with ferromagnetic body. Can be used for electromagnetic treatment of elongated large-size ferromagnetic objects in machine building industry: shafts of turbines and other equipment. Disclosed is method of degaussing of ship with ferromagnetic hull, based on electromagnetic processing into compensated Earth magnetic field by means of alternating magnetic field created by operating winding, in which movement of vessel through the operating winding or movement of operating winding along lengthwise axis at distance not exceeding length of ship, before beginning of movement sign-changing magnetic field intensity is smoothly increased from zero to maximum intensity during movement intensity of alternating magnetic field is kept maximum and constant, and after completion of movement intensity of alternating magnetic field is smoothly reduced to zero intensity.

EFFECT: proposed method allows to reduce labour intensiveness of works on degaussing of ship with ferromagnetic hull.
