FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pneumatic percussion machines. Pneumatic hammer comprises a cylindrical body, a working tool, a partition with an axial hole in which tube is installed and secured with a longitudinal outlet port and radial discharge port, and a drummer with a through axial channel for passage of said tube. Striker divides cylindrical body into working stroke chamber on side of partition and idle stroke chamber from side of working tool. In cylindrical body on side of idle stroke chamber there is a groove. In body of striker there is a bypass channel of round section in form of a straight slot or inclined groove made at an angle to generatrix surface of striker, or screw groove. Bypass channel is made with a constantly open output in end of striker on side of working stroke chamber and radial output in its side surface in said groove idle stroke chamber with possibility of periodic communication of working and idle strokes chambers to each other.
EFFECT: reduced consumption of compressed air.
