SUBSTANCE: implementation of the disclosed method comprises placing a forming optical holder, having a convex surface, on the path of a laser beam; further, obtaining a control measurement of the shape of the optical holder using measurement equipment; wherein the method includes forming an unhydrated lens on the convex surface of the optical holder; placing the forming optical holder and the formed ophthalmic lens on the path of the laser beam and calculating the axial thickness of the ophthalmic lens by comparing the control measurement and the measurement of the optical holder with the formed ophthalmic lens.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determining the lens thickness.
