FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: variable multifocal contact lens comprises a front and back surfaces having an arcuate shape and connected to each other at the edge of the lens, an optical power field for correcting the vision comprising a plurality of optical zones, one or more stabilization zones for vertical and/or rotational stability of the lens, and contact surface with a lower eyelid to limit the amount of movement of the lens over the eye when the line of sight of the user moves from one to the other optical zone. The peripheral region extends radially from the outer edge of the optical power region to the edge of the lens. The edge of the lens extends radially from the outer edge of the peripheral region to the junction of the front and back surfaces.
EFFECT: limiting the movement of the lens over the surface of the eye when the eye moves from the position for vision to a position for near vision.
