FIELD: ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: method for measuring the thickness of an ophthalmic lens includes providing a shaping optical element having a convex-curved upper surface; recording the reference value of the intensity in the specified forming optical element; forming an ophthalmic lens having a light-absorbing component on the convex-curved upper surface of the forming optical element; directing light through the ophthalmic lens after which the light-absorbing component absorbs a portion of light when light passes through the ophthalmic lens. After that light that passed through the ophthalmic lens is used to create a digital image for the ophthalmic lens having pixel intensity data that matches the shape of the ophthalmic lens. After that one should use information about light before directing it through the ophthalmic lens, the light-absorbing component of the ophthalmic lens, the reference intensity value recorded in the shaping optical element, and the pixel intensity data to calculate a thickness profile of the ophthalmic lens.
EFFECT: invention ensures accurate measurement of the thickness of ophthalmic lenses.
