SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a system for oral hygiene and methods of application. System for oral hygiene containing a gel to indicate plaque containing the dye in pencil dispenser, wherein the dispenser comprises a chamber which provides delivery of a metered quantity of gel. This gel shows the yield strength of the Herschel-Bulkley models from 10 to 230 dyne/cm², viscosity of the Herschel-Bulkley model from 3 to 500 poises and the flow index for the Herschel-Bulkley model from 0.4 to 0.6, wherein said gel contains 0.2-1.5 % of xanthan gum and 0.2-3 % carboxymethylcellulose. A method for detecting and removing dental plaque comprising the steps of gel application for indicating plaque using the aforementioned systems for oral hygiene to the teeth of a person in need thereof and brushing of the detected plaque. System may comprise a further dispenser containing gel to remove plaque, including preventing plaque agent. In this case, in the method of detection and removal of dental plaque after application of the gel for indicating plaque on the teeth of a person in need thereof the gel is applied to remove dental plaque on the teeth in areas where the gel indicating plaque indicates the presence of plaque, and then removed by brushing the teeth.

EFFECT: use of the gel having a predetermined viscosity, characterized by the aforementioned rheology parameters in a apparatus of pencil type allows easy dosing of the gel and uniformly applying it to the teeth provides retention of the gel on the teeth for a period sufficient to absorb dye dental plaque and consequently for the efficient detection and subsequent removal of plaque.
