FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protection of insulated wires, linear insulators and 6-35 kV equipment from atmospheric overvoltage. Device consists of nonlinear voltage suppressor (1), which is calculated at rated discharge current of not more than 5 kA for of voltage 6-20 kV and at rated discharge current of not more than 10 kA at voltage of 35 kV. Spark gap is formed between electrode (4), fixed on flange (6), and electrode (5), fixed by means of piercing insulation of clamp (7) on wire (8), or on insulator, or on tension clamp, or on supporting clamp by fasteners. Electrode (5) is located opposite electrode (4) at distance of 3-100 mm for voltage of 35 kV and at distance of 101-140 mm for voltage of 6-20 kV.
EFFECT: design of electrodes (4, 5) and attachment method allows to preserve value of spark gap L constant in any weather conditions.
