SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power industry, namely to insulators-arresters intended for fixing and protecting insulated wires, insulators and other equipment of overhead transmission lines with voltage of over 0.95 kV from the effects of atmospheric overvoltage. Isolator-discharger (1) is connected by lower end-cap (2) to grounded crosshead (3) of the overhead transmission line, and upper end-cap (4) secures phase line (7) of the overhead power line with the help of pressure plate (5) and bolts (6). Upper end-cap and/or the pressure plate of the upper splitter are made with an element that pierces the insulation of the phase conductor.

EFFECT: isolator-arrester is simple in design and manufacturing technology, is reliable in terms of effective provision of insulated fastening and protection of wires, insulators and other electric power equipment of overhead transmission lines from the effects of atmospheric overvoltage, allows to prevent unauthorized overlapping of lines because of negative influence of vital activity of birds arranging their nests on wires and traverses of overhead power lines supports.
