SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to estimate state of optic nerve in optic neuropathy of various geneses. Functional properties of visual functions before and after unloading of sample are determined. Sample is carried out in conditions of normal or normalised intraocular pressure. Unloading sample used is introduction into retrobulbar or retroequatorial space 1.0-1.5 ml of saline solution. Functional properties of visual functions are determined after unloading of sample 1-1.5 hours after administration. In case of improvement of at least one functional value of visual functions, state of optic nerve is evaluated as partially reversible.
EFFECT: method enables to choose an adequate therapeutic approach to optic neuropathy of various geneses.
