FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed group of inventions relates magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy equipment in which superconducting components are used. System for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and/or magnetic resonance spectroscopy comprises a superconducting main magnet configured to generate a uniform magnetic field in an examination region; at least one superconducting gradient coil adapted to create a corresponding at least one magnetic field gradient in examination region; and at least one superconducting radio frequency (RF) coil adapted to transmit and receive radio frequency signals to and from examination field. Said superconducting main magnet, said at least one superconducting gradient coil and said at least one superconducting RF coil are made of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) material. Same HTS material is used to make said superconducting main magnet, each of said at least one superconducting gradient coil and each of said at least one superconducting RF coil. In second embodiment, RF coil is adapted for cooling and contains non-superconducting material comprising a two-dimensional electron gas structure which upon cooling to below room temperature has a specific conductivity higher than that of copper at same temperature.
EFFECT: present invention can improve image contrast, signal-to-noise ratio and speed of data acquisition.
