FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system for providing a closed chamber for joining optical fibres in zones of high risk. System includes a closed chamber and blowing device for blowing the inner space of the chamber under pressure. Blowing device comprises a pressure assembly, air inlet device and instruments for pressure measuring. Upper side of the chamber is designed for use as its detachable lid. Chamber is equipped with the device for thermal joining of optical fibres and contains fibre-optic cables, then the detachable lid is installed in working position and locked in this position, and the chamber is sealed. Blowing device replaces flammable gas by air or inert gas. Due to maintenance of positive excess pressure inside the chamber, penetration of flammable gases into the closed chamber is prevented.
EFFECT: technical result is safety during operations even in high risk zones, also disclosed is a method of joining optical fibres.
