FIELD: road.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to estimation of road gradient. Method of estimating road gradient in a vehicle using a combination of sensors comprises steps of detecting whether at least one dynamic process is affecting said vehicle, and estimating said gradient by joint weighting of two input signals for said sensor combination. Said input signals comprise input signal based on accelerometer and input signal based on equation of forces. One of said two input signals and/or weight coefficient for combination of sensors is determined based on detecting whether a dynamic process is affecting said vehicle. Method of selecting transmission in vehicle is characterised by said estimation of road gradient and selection of transmission based on said estimation of said gradient.
EFFECT: higher efficiency and reliability of estimation of gradient.
