FIELD: plasma technology.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus relates to the field of plasma technology and can be applied in development of electron beam apparatuses, as well as used in the electron beam technology, experimental physics, plasma chemical technology. A composite cathode assembly consisting of a divided current lead with an upper narrow protrusion transitioning into a thick base with a diameter of 20 mm, then transitioning into a thinning, located whereon are protective rings and a T-shaped caprolon insulator, is introduced into the plasma emitter. A copper cathode with a diameter of 6 mm screwed into the thinning of the current lead is enclosed in a bowl-shaped ceramic insulator attached to the current lead. An igniting electrode is attached to the lower part of the ceramic insulator.
EFFECT: increase in the area of thermal scattering, reduction in the heat transfer from the most heated part of the cathode assembly to the caprolon insulator, increase in the reliability of operation of the emitter.
