FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: for production of titanium dioxide nano particles is performed pumping out of vacuum chamber, filling it with inert gas, direct-current electric arc ignition between graphite electrode and metal-carbon composite electrode. Composite electrode is graphite rod with cavity drilled in centre, which is filled with compacted mixture of titanium and graphite powders. Weight ratio of titanium/graphite is 1/2. In electric arc discharge plasma composite electrode is sprayed. Annealing of synthesized material is performed by heating in oxygen-containing atmosphere at atmospheric pressure to temperature of 900-1,000 °C and holding for 1 hour.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain titanium dioxide with structure of rutile with highly developed surface, without expenses on corrosion resistant equipment and high quality raw material.
