FIELD: metallurgy; technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of titanium scrap processing. Method consists in fact that into heated to temperature of 673-773 reactor titanium scrap on quartz tray is placed, placing carbon fibre under it. Then carbon tetrachloride vapors are passed through reactor at controlled rate, and to titanium scrap is potential from source of DC voltage sourse with value of more than 6,000V of any sign is applied, using carbon fibre for its supply. Titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) extracted from scrap is condensed together with excessive carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) and solution (TiCl4-CCl4) is obtained. Then titanium tetrachloride is separated by sublimation from carbon tetrachloride and titanium tetrachloride is bubbled with humid air. At that, titanium dihydroxide-oxide TiO(OH)2 sediment is precipitated, which is annealed at temperature 873-973 K to obtain titanium dioxide (TiO2).
EFFECT: increasing reactions rate in 2-4 times and correspondingly at same time increases efficiency of titanium scrap processing.
