FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of titanium alloy Ti-Al. Initial mixture containing aluminum, possibly AlCl3 and optionally one or more halogenides of alloying element, is heated to preheating temperature, then introduced into initial mixture of TiCl4 at a first reaction temperature to substantially reduce substantially Ti4+ in TiCl4 to Ti3+, then heating to second reaction temperature to substantially reduce total Ti3+ to Ti2+ to obtain an intermediate mixture which contains a Ti2+ salt, and introducing the intermediate mixture into the reaction chamber at a disproportionation reaction temperature to obtain Ti2+ titanium alloy by disproportionation reaction.
EFFECT: obtaining titanium-aluminum alloy by reducing titanium tetrachloride.
