FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for recognising amount of clouds on spatio-temporal structure of radiation in visible range and can be used in marine observations amount of clouds of visible hemisphere of sky. Device for determining total amount of clouds comprises a system of recording data in form of a digital camera with a wide-angle lens, a unit for monitoring position of recording system, including a three-axis sensor of free fall acceleration, three-axis sensor of rotation and geographical position sensor, control unit of recording and processing data. Control unit of recording data is connected by digital communication lines with data recording system and position control unit, latter is rigidly connected to each other to form a common installation for external installation. Digital camera is fixed on housing of position control unit of recording system, which is made in form of mini-computer in a compact shockproof, dust-waterproof housing, and digital lines are made in form of a single cable.

EFFECT: high accuracy, objectivity and accuracy of determining total amount of clouds, and enabling detection of visible spatial structure of cloud in digital format.
