FIELD: test equipment.
SUBSTANCE: method of selecting the best sample of nut to ensure strength of threaded connection can be used when investigating critical threaded connections, for example, threaded connections for hydraulic plants of HES or for vessels operated under high pressure. Batch of threaded connections with nuts of different type which have different dimensions, roughness of turns, pitch, turn profile is subjected to analysis. All threaded connections are loaded with equal by value axial load and radial strain sensor, radial deformation of the nut body is measured at its support end, in the middle or in places divisible by thread pitch, and at free end of nut. For each nut diagram of radial deformation of nut body dependance relative to its height is constructed. Then graphs are compared and based on radial deformation change the nature of lead distribution on turns of analysed threaded connections is estimated.
EFFECT: based on load distribution nature the nut sample is selected providing optimum distribution of axial load and strength of threaded connection.
