FIELD: antenna.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed group of inventions relates to surface scattering antennae and methods of generating corresponding electromagnetic waves. Surface scattering antenna comprises coupling feeder for excitation of driven wave when receiving electromagnetic signal from structure of feeder; waveguide having possibility of propagation of said driven wave; and several scattering elements distributed along waveguide with inter-element gaps, considerably smaller than wavelength in free space corresponding to operating frequency of antenna, wherein said several scattering elements have: electromagnetic properties, reconfigurable in response to one or more external input effects, several reconfigurable individual electromagnetic responses to mode of said driven wave in waveguide. Said reconfigurable electromagnetic properties and said several reconfigurable individual electromagnetic responses generate a reconfigurable radiation field of antenna during scattering of said driven wave on said several scattering elements. Said antennae are also used to implement corresponding methods of generating electromagnetic oscillations, generation of antenna beam pattern and generating a controlled electromagnetic signal.
EFFECT: present group of inventions enables to obtain required direction of beam with selected width and shape, polarisation state, total phase and other parameters.
